Life Skills Camp

For work, me and 3 other insane adults took 12 polite, well behaved, respectful, middle school aged children (please note the sarcasm) to Estes Park Colorado for what we call Life Skills Camp. We stayed at the YMCA of the Rockies http://www.ymcarockies.org/estes-park-center-colorado.html. It was an exhausting but rewarding week. We participated in lots of great guided activities like hikes, zip line, camp fires, and ropes courses. My favorite was the high ropes course. We had a crash course in climbing and climbing equipment and off we went, or should I say, up we went. We climbed on "staples" in trees up 35 feet and then "chose our own challenge" as they liked to keep telling us, of which course we wanted to take.

It definitely tested your courage, balance and I certainly questioned my sanity but was more than proud of myself and all the kids for completing the course...

The only way down was to zip line. As you can tell I was screaming my head off the entire way down. Whatever helps, right?

Sarvis Creek Hike

We are so lucky to have such beautiful places right out our back door.

Boone was pooped and ready to go home...

It was a gorgeous day. Will pointed out it was 79 degrees but...

you can still see snow on the mountains.

Beautiful.

Ooops!

Will got a horrible and I mean horrible hair cut yesterday. She must have been in a hurry because she missed some really long pieces (it had been a while since Will had a hair cut!). At the time we thought...no big deal...I could just fix it with Will's beard trimmers when we got home. Mistake numero 1.

So, of course, when I was trying to go to bed Will decided that was when he HAD to have his hair fixed. So after much debate I caved with the attitude of...lets get this over with already. Mistake numero 2.

Will's exact words were "start long and then go down". I started at 5...apparently 5 out of 10 (I did not know or think to ask this little tid bit of information) is not shall we say..."long". After one fail swoop I realized 5 was a teeeensy bit too short. I laughed uncontrollably for like 10 minutes while Will was screaming for me to fix his hair. Can you picture this scene??

I stopped laughing long enough to take a picture...I knew you guys would appreciate that...right?

I tried to convince him it was barely noticeable (chuckle, chuckle). Don't worry I fixed it...I didn't take pictures...that part wasn't nearly as amusing!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Will and I are playing softball again this summer. So far we are 3-1 woohoo! We play 2 games every Tuesday night for the entire summer. Stay tuned!!

Nothin Runs Like a Deer

Will borrowed a tractor to do the "heavy lifting"...it got the work done easier, faster and it was a big hit in the neighborhood...

It was a dual seater :)

Will's audience...

They patiently waited for their turn to play...they were so cute!

Rodents Revenge

Apparently warm weather brings everybody outside...and I'm not just talking about people, humans, I'm talking animals!

This little critter is called a vole...they are like rats that burrow underground and make a mess of your yard. Boone found it and this little darling is lucky that I'm the one who came across it. I let him live but Will on the other hand would not have been so kind.

This not so little sweetie probably doesn't need to be identified. It stunk!

Will picked it up with lots of grocery bags and our poor poor trash man picked it up for us. Oh life in the wild wild west.

Random

This blogging business is hard work people...I mean not just the posting...its the organizing, the clever titles and of course the witty narrative. Shew! So much pressure!

Anywho...we take tons of random pictures that I never know how to share on my blog and still live up to my own high blogging standards. So I have decided to just have random posts from time to time. It will save my little brain the stress of keeping up with the blogging Jones'. So lower your standards people...sheesh.

Our trees are actually growing!

Somewhere over the rainbow....lives a sweet dog Boone :)
